The Sovereignty Conversation is a category of programming on ‘Ōlelo Community Media and the associated dialogue. In 2014, a series of 12 public meetings known as “The Sovereignty Conversation: Community Forums” will be broadcast live.
The forums are meant to build public awareness and create a better understanding among both Hawaiians and non-Hawaiians about what the sovereignty movement means for all the people of Hawaii.
The grassroots effort to engage the public in this discussion comes at a time when the Hawaiian community has established a large presence in Kapolei and the Hawaii Legislature is preparing in weeks ahead to bring new attention to ongoing initiatives aimed at Hawaiian governance and self-determination.
